bueller.... bueller.... bueller....

no, it's not what you're thinking. i didn't skip class. it was cancelled! for real. no class today. WHADDUP. so i slept in late, woke up, ate breakfast, and went back to my room so i could sit in bed and start a book. which is, so far, a really good, funny book. it's called extremely loud & incredibly close by jonathan safran foer. if you get the chance, you should totally buy it or check it out from a library. after reading some of that, i got dressed and got ready for the day. i went to the post office to pick up a package from ell with my valentine's day and birthday cards inside. and i was a good little girl and i only opened the valentine's day one. :) and it was quite lovely to say the least. i also got another card from my grammy and papa! :) it made me so happy because i had no idea that they were going to send me anything here in france. i love them so much. <3

when i got home, karen wanted to go out and take pictures so i agreed to go. we met up with grace at the school and ventured into the city, walking and talking, stopping to take pictures, sitting down in a cafe to get some coffee... it was a good time. but very cold! for some reason i seriously felt like my hands got frostbitten, or maybe they were just super cold and dry... i don't know, but cha-lay it huuurt! it was soon time for dinner, and it was really good. we had soup made from blended potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and tomatoes. deliciousss. i'm gonna start making soup like that. and then we had omelettes with lardon, which is kind of like what we would call bacon back in the states. on another note: did you know if you try to say 'beer can' with a british accent it will sound like you are saying 'bacon' in a jamaican accent and vice versa? i dare you to try it. you shall be amazed at your ability to sound foreign from two different countries! aaand back to what i was saying. then, we had the regular bread, cheese, and wine. and for dessert we had chocolate cream, which kinda has the texture of flan/pudding. it is also delicious, and if you're my facebook friend and saw that i posted that i was in need of chocolate/ ice cream/ chocolate ice cream... yes, it did the trick.

and pardon my french (wow, how fitting of a phrase that is for my situation!) but... what the fuck is up with this shit: okay, so at dinner karen asked colette if it was okay if we used the kitchen on days that she doesn't feed us. sounds reasonable, right? i mean, not only do have to buy all of our lunches, but we also have to buy 4 dinners a week for ourselves. and who wants to go out to eat all the time? it's so much more expensive. so, colette's answer was that we are forbidden to use the microwave except for on sundays, or we can use it any day of the week if it's to heat up water for tea or something. what?!?! really?! forbidden to use a damn microwave?! why, is it that inconvenient for you?! i mean, seriously... i find it a little ridiculous in the first place that we can't use the stove to make actual food for ourselves instead of relying on going out to eat or microwave dinners that can really only be eaten once a week, according to these house rules. but i just find it absolutely appalling that it would be "strictly forbidden" to use the microwave any other time but on sundays. i'm sorry, am i overreacting? i don't know anyone who would answer "yes" to that question. jeebus. i really don't think me and my parents paid this much money for me to be restricted from even making my own food. RIDONCULOUS. i suppose i'll just have to drink my food. i'll cut up some meat, cheese, vegetables, and bread.. mix that all together.. then put it in a little filter to make into a tea bag, then drink it. since i can make tea whenever i want.

this is me (notice the shhexxay retainers) ANGRY that i can't make my own dwam food!!!!
